SMS Opt-In Process

  1. User Initiation
Step 1: A potential customer sends an initial text message (e.g., an inquiry or a question) to the dedicated REPS Rentals SMS number.
Purpose: This action serves as the first indication of the user’s interest in receiving SMS communications related to REPS Rentals’ marketing and service updates.
  2. Implied Consent
Step 2: Upon sending the initial text message, the user provides implied consent to receive subsequent SMS communications.
Explanation This means that the act of initiating contact via SMS is considered sufficient to opt the user into the service without the need for a separate consent form.
  3. Confirmation Response
Step 3: The system automatically sends a confirmation message back to the user.
    • Contents of the Confirmation Message:
    • A welcome note acknowledging the user’s opt-in.
    • An outline of the type of information (e.g., marketing updates, service information) that the user will receive.
    • Clear instructions on how the user can opt out of further communications (e.g., by replying “unsubscribe”).
  4. Ongoing Communication
    Step 4:
After the confirmation, REPS Rentals begins sending SMS messages to the user that are directly related to their inquiry or the services offered.
Communication Nature:** These messages are intended to provide relevant marketing information, product updates, and service alerts.
User Engagement:** The process ensures that communications are tailored to the user’s initiated interest and remain relevant.
  5. Opt-Out Mechanism
Step 5: At any point, the user may choose to discontinue receiving SMS communications.
    Opt-Out Process:
    • The user sends a text message with the word “unsubscribe.”
    • Upon receiving this opt-out message, the system promptly removes the user’s phone number from the messaging list, ensuring that no further SMS communications are sent.
  6. Data Retention and Management
Step 6: The phone number associated with the user is retained in the system for three (3) months following the final sender-initiated contact.
  • Data Handling:** After the three-month retention period, the user’s phone number is securely deleted from the system.
  • Purpose:** This retention policy ensures that data is not stored indefinitely and aligns with privacy best practices.

User Initiation: Users opt in by sending an SMS to the dedicated number.
Implied Consent: Initiation of contact serves as consent for SMS communications.
Confirmation and Transparency: An automatic confirmation message is sent detailing what to expect and how to opt out.
Active Engagement: Users receive communications that are directly related to their inquiry and interests.
Easy Opt-Out: Users can unsubscribe at any time by sending a text with the keyword “unsubscribe.
Data Management: User data is securely retained for three months post-contact and then deleted.
